Scientific collaboration

Scientific collaboration with Hamburg University of Technology

Since mid 2008 there has been highly successful collaboration between Fraunhofer IFAM in Stade and Hamburg University of Technology involving the machining and assembly of large lightweight structures.

The key figures at Hamburg University of Technology are PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Jörg Wollnack and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Hintze of the Institute of Production Management and Technology (IPMT)Institute of Production Management and Technology IPMT. The IPMT researches and teaches in this area and develops models and processes for industrial practice.

The activities at Fraunhofer IFAM and IPMT in Hamburg complement one another with application-oriented research concepts being transferred into industrial innovations through direct cooperation between scientists and engineers in the two organizations. It is this partnership that facilitates the path from a simulated or laboratory scale solution to a stable production process.

Small and large companies have come to value our know-how, reasoned strategic approach, and the implementation of solutions into production practice.

Students and scientific employees benefit from the close interplay between science and industrial innovation which opens up a host of career opportunities in many directions.
