Good balance of revenues, stability and growth of the budget

Like all institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Fraunhofer IFAM has a business model based on a balance between fundamental, application-oriented research and innovative development work.

A key indicator of this is the fraction of the overall revenue made up by industrial income. At Fraunhofer IFAM this is on average 50 percent and mostly concerns bilateral projects with industrial customers.

Fraunhofer IFAM has grown steadily over recent years. In 2018 the overall budget exceeded 50 million euros for the first time.

The long-term financial goals of Fraunhofer IFAM are a stable budget and healthy growth. Foremost is the task of consolidating what has already been achieved and ensuring the sustainability of any growth

Highly-qualified workforce

The most of the round about 700 strong workforce are engaged in scientific and technical activities. With both institute’s divisions Fraunhofer IFAM is one of the largest independent research establishments in Europe.
