Innovative solutions for sustainable cooling technologies
Magnetocaloric cooling systems offer industry a pioneering alternative to conventional compression refrigeration machines – technologically innovative, economically attractive, and ecologically sound. Instead of conventional refrigerants, these systems use the magnetocaloric effect: By making targeted changes to the magnetic field in specially developed materials, cold can be generated efficiently and in a controlled manner – without the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases.
Magnetocaloric technology is future-proof
For industrial applications, this means one thing above all: high energy efficiency combined with lower operating costs. The thermodynamic efficiency of magnetocaloric systems is significantly higher than that of conventional technologies, especially in partial load operation.
At the same time, the system operates quietly, vibration-free, and with high precision—ideal for sensitive production environments or demanding high-tech applications.
From an investment perspective, magnetocaloric technology is also future-proof: it is independent of stricter environmental regulations that are increasingly restricting the use of conventional refrigerants.
A broad portfolio for definition and manufacturing magnetocaloric heat exchangers
We support our customers throughout the entire development and manufacturing process – from selecting the right starting material to the finished, ready-to-use cooling system. The basis of every successful application is the precise definition and procurement of the right material. We draw on our many years of experience and the latest scientific findings. We use alloys such as LaFeSi or MnFePSi, which we select specifically as powders with precisely defined particle size distribution and shape – optimally matched to the respective subsequent forming process.
Forming is a central component of our offering. Metal powder extrusion has proven particularly successful in this regard, as it allows thin-walled heat exchangers to be produced efficiently in large quantities. Our components achieve wall thicknesses down to 200 micrometers and feature extremely fine microchannels. We also offer additive manufacturing processes to enable maximum design freedom and flexibility.
Customized solutions – even for complete cooling systems
Shaping is followed by sintering and heat treatment – a crucial step in optimally adjusting the desired magnetocaloric effect. This stage requires in-depth expertise, as the heat treatment must be individually adapted to the respective alloy.
We are materials scientists, but in addition to developing magnetocaloric heat exchangers, we also offer complete cooling systems. Here, we work closely with a network of experienced partners who have been successfully active in system engineering for many years. This close cooperation enables us to deliver tailor-made solutions of the highest standard.
Thanks to our modern equipment, we can initially carry out developments on a small scale and then scale them up to our industrial machines. This enables us to provide our customers with flexible and competent support from the initial idea to the market-ready product.
